Sullivan's Casino Puts Question Mark On Orange County's Budget Planning

ORANGE COUNTY, N.Y. – The Resorts World Casino isn't yet completed in Sullivan County, but the potential economic windfall is expected to be felt across the border in Orange. How much will it impact Orange County remains an unknown variable, according to the Times-Herald Record.

State officials in 2013 said Orange County should see just under $5 million annually thanks to the casino, but that number remains to be proven. Counties that surround the already completed resorts in New York State are seeing between 60 and 70 percent of what officials forecast four years ago, the Record said.

Revised estimates for what Orange may see from Resorts World Casino are becoming available, but it remains a moving budget target the County must hit to avoid financial problems, the Record reported.
